LONG LONG story...

Wednesday 5th.

After a horrible night through which we had to endure someone in the motel room above us being beaten up - by the sound of the commotion - and the language/screaming, banging and thumping (I thought they might come through the ceiling), then loud thumping as someone ran down the hallway and out into the night we got up to hear that there had been a shooting across the street in the night.

So this morning after Tony had found out that the Redwood National Forrest was actually behind us and we would have to double back to stay the night, we headed north from Eureka up the coast for another long day of driving toward Oregon.

The scenery was unbelievably beautiful. Lots of rugged coastline! The pacific is not blue/green like our oceans but a murky grey/brown/green. Today it was very windy along the coast so lots of wonderful waves. I took more photos of course but had a disaster when my battery went flat, then so did the spare, and the third was dead too… I could have cried…

BUT before that I got some great pics of old buildings and of a real live Bull ELK… He was amazing. He was just hanging around on the side of the hwy. I will add pics of him later.

As we travelled up the coast there were a lot of huge rocks sprouting out of the water and many of them had distinguishable features. One looked like a Native American woman. I tried my best to get some pics of these rocks but not sure yet how they look.

We had brekkie in another diner and met a nice guy from Utah. The waitress was a real grump this morning. We have been having huge breakfasts. Today I had a ham and cheese omelette that was sooooo big and hash browns on the side. When they offer you a hash brown or a pancake or anything else they are the size of dinner plates. Unbelievable. You can also have unlimited coffee and tea. For dinner tonight we stopped at a Dairy Queen. We had burgers. Then I had a banana Sunday. It was Yummy. I know why Americans put on so much weight now, everything is huge.

We made it as far as Albany Oregon tonight and are headed to Portland Oregon tomorrow to drop off rental van and pick up our own.

I have been really surprised as we travel along there are rest-stops every 20-30miles and they are spotlessly clean. All even have the paper toilet seat liners. The only grotty loo we have met so far was at a dumpy little truck stop and I refused to go.

There are also camp grounds every where and RV’s every few minutes passing by. BUT even worse… every 9/10 vehicles is a PICK-UP…LOL…poor Mal.

Oh yeah… the weather is wonderful… so0 far every day has been in the mid 20’s C. even at night we don’t need covers. Jumpers are obsolete…SO far…

Well catch you again tomorrow

Look for the face in the rocks

Isn't she beautiful

You wanted reality America and you certainly got it. What type of car are you travelling in??? Will Mal ship a truck home with him???

Is the weekend now and collingwood is playing tomorrow, so guess what my weekend will be like - nervously waiting with either excitement or dispair. Enjoy your weekend and dont try and get cuddly with any elks, bears oe those cows in the trees.

Loving the pictures. Hey where are the ones of you Rosemaree. So glad you guys are having such a great time; even if it got a bit scary the other night. The Koole gang.
